Does people scrape e-commerce data

I have worked for a company which scrapes all e-commerce globally (hundred millions of products daily), mostly they sell these insights to their competitors

Yes. For ex, a product search website. I enter a product and it searches all shopping websites for that product along with their prices and shows on a common page in a cumulative/comparative way. But many of the shopping websites have blocked automatic scrapping. As far as I know, only Amazon has allowed it for now. For others, one needs to put in additional measures, or go indirect ways.
