Does past PIP affect joining / offer rollout from new company ?

Interviewing with a good company ( US MNC) recently and they were very impressed in the last round. Even discussed about rolling out the offer soon. I am interested to join as well. However the current company which for I am serving notice - they had put me on pip temporarily for really unfair reasons. I conveyed within a week of pip that I was going to look outside and put in my papers. Will this be revealed during BGV and affect my joining with the new company ? The hr at the current company has said that the pip won’t be mentioned in the relieving and experience letter.
