Does my profile look like I am switching too fast

1st - 2 years (incl 6 mo internship) 2nd - 3.5 years 3rd - 8 months ( didn't like fully remote) 4th (current) - 1.5 years

My current company has rules of mandatory 9 hours work. I honestly cannot sustain that, I am doing my work on time and all, but they want the system to reflect 9+ hours of working hours.

I was originally thinking of completing atleast 2 years but now I feel I won't be able to. Will switching now degrade my profile quality?

No, your switching history looks decent. You can switch.

No company give you job guarantee for lifetime, show middle finger when someone asks you about frequent job switches.

Yeah but how do you actually navigate such questions? How exactly should you enunciate to say, well, fuck you?

QuirkyQuokka

Usually, only immature interviewers who want to score brownie points on you, who want to tame you down ask such questions, reason is known universally, that no company is a holy cow.

When you say you cannot sustain working mandatory for 9 hours. I just want to tell you that, this is india and here most of the companies do the same. So your next job might be same or worst or better.

Switching is still fine but if you give this reason then many HR might not like the reason

I will keep the HR thing in mind
But as far as other companies go, US based product companies don't track hours. They might track work aggressively but never the hours

MagicalPretzel
MagicalPretzel

Not really. There are a lot of product based companies that offer flexible hours and don't micro manage hours as long as you deliver the work you promised.

That's totally fine, I'm in 5th company within 4 years, you'll be fine

No rule for switching. Just make sure sometimes the fast switch lands in the wrong place which leads to another switch without more judgment This is the demand supply , no rules.

Mine is 17 years total experience I am at 9th company

Can you share the companies names if u don’t mind. I am looking for remote opportunities? Is samsung actually tracking 9hours of work?

MagicalNarwhal
MagicalNarwhal

Can't share. Try Akamai or atlassian if looking fully remote. Some of my friends working there gave good reviews

MagicalNarwhal
MagicalNarwhal

Yes. Samsung not only tracks working hours. They also track number of got commits, PR review count and Jira tickets. All have their monthly threshold.

How much hike did you get in each switch?

MagicalNarwhal

On an average 50%. Didn't negotiate in last switch, coz switched in less than year. Got 20% without asking

MagicalNarwhal
MagicalNarwhal

Can't share. However that company is now acquired and is actively downsizing. Try Akamai or atlassian. Don't of my friends working there gave good reviews. Both fully remote
