Does Deloitte USI offer work-from-home (WFH) options in case of a serious family medical situation?

Hi All,

I will be joining Deloitte USI shortly. However, I have a critical family situation that I would like to discuss.

My father has been on dialysis for the past 4.5 years as both of his kidneys are not functioning. He requires dialysis twice a week, during which blood cleaning and water discharge procedures are performed. Due to frequent blood pressure fluctuations, he often needs assistance, and since I am his only son, I need to accompany him to the hospital.

We have registered his name for a kidney donor at a government hospital, and as per regulations, dialysis must be done at the same facility where his treatment started.

As per my offer letter, I am required to work from the Mumbai office twice a week. However, I currently reside in another state and need to relocate. Given my father’s medical condition, I am concerned about the feasibility of shifting to Mumbai while ensuring his care.

Previously, I worked at Infosys, where they conducted all necessary background checks and allowed me to work from home due to this situation. If complete remote work is not feasible, I am willing to manage one week per month in the office instead of commuting twice a week.

I sincerely appreciate your guidance and support on this matter. Please let me know if Deloitte USI can provide any flexibility or assistance in this regard.

Thank you!

Thank you for your help.

The WFO compulsion is more by the team than the organisation. I have seen people going just 1-2 days office just because their team is not there in the same base location. Some are calling their team around 5 days a week. Discuss this beforehand while getting the project.

They can. Also, depending on the project. Firm policies is to come 8 days to office in a month. If you wont come it’ll only affect your performance/bonus/hikes/promotion.

May not give a permanent WFH, due to firm policies. But talk to Talent Business Advisor who can provide a interim WFH for few months to support the immediate need

You should have discussed this before accepting the offer. Even with the clause to work from office if you have accepted, this will not be probably going down well for you. If your skillset and firm’s requirements were aligned and HR were okay with you not going to office they would have accommodated the request before releasing the offer.
