Does anyone here feel there is a lot of corruption in IITH?
I don’t know about other IITs so can’t comment on them, but for some reason I feel there is a lot of corruption in mess contract and construction. Like, some part of mess expense is paid by taxpayers money yet the food they used to serve is not comparable to old IITs, the construction is so slow, there are many more things i can point out but no patience to type. Now that I have graduated, I felt like sharing ( i know it wont make a difference anyway) @IIT
It’s common in most govt or govt backed colleges. In my college people made money on
- Mess contracts - kickbacks, mess food was pathetic
- Hostel furniture contracts - Bought furniture on rent and made lakhs in profits. Would have been 10 times cheaper to buy this furniture.
- Infrastructure repair contracts - made sure roads and other repairs last only for a year
- Equipments - Purchased a lot of computers with the promise of increasing the size of computer centre; which never happened. Officials sold these unused computers and made money.
These are cases we students knew of. Not sure what all went on and how much money is getting minted by these corrupt individuals.
true, it hard to digest the fact that this is happening in educational institute.
