Do you think that you should work in FAANG atleast once?

Does every SWE need to work at least one FAANG? Are non-FAANGers just bad engineers?

Before anyone gets offended, I’ve never worked at a FAANG and just want to see what ppl think. Could be in terms of prestige, money or knowledge.

yes
no
maybe?

I worked at Amazon, Microsoft and currently at Google. Ofcourse I'm not the best engineer out there but people around me says my resume have gotten some Brand names now which will attract some good attention only, if not zero. Idk, but it just feels good. Ofcourse I'm working on myself to keep upskilling myself and not stay in comfort of G.

Except Amazon, work environment & culture has been amazing at M & G.

Can you help me with referrals for non-tech program manager role at L4-5 ? I have 3YOE at Amazon in L4 role, with solid skills in stakeholders management and program/project handling.

As long as you are happy with your work, WLB and money. It doesn’t matter where you work I think

I don’t think it’s important at all

Joining a MNC or even FAANG would be helpful because you will get a glimpse on working in a company at a large scale where things become saturated and you daily output contribution is very miniscual compared to overall product or business. You will feel what it is to be part of a crowd where mostly all other engineers must be good(they were able to crack FAANG interviews) but doesn’t mean they still have the drive to move forward.

You will see what a relaxed environment looks like or you will see a toxic culture. There will be ups and downs and it would teach you a lot. It will show you if you are made for startups or Huge Corporations.

Better to see both sides of the coin before deciding on anything so if you get a chance then you should go. At least it would upgrade your resume.

As long as you are skilled, you will be desired. It doesn't matter if you are in FAANG. Would suggest you to get into smaller startups, it would certainly jump start your career

I interned as a swe at 2 Indian decacrorn startups, and currently an sde1 at faang. Idk about good engineers or not, but swes should once work at any faang to build things which are massively scalable, haan there are startups like Disney hs which have huge scale too, but there's something different when you work on things that affect billions of dollars of revenue directly :)

I think the silent winners are being ignored. Next upcoming era will be of semiconductor technology firms . If you get a chance to work for them , grab it with two hands

Well, faang tag has its own value how much ever people deny it. When the market is dull, companies will only hire a faang engineer and not a non-faang engineer.
