Do you think TCS would care if someone died from overworking?

Lately I have been wondering about the work that I have been doing here. It is mindless and monotonous but I have to work extremely long hours.

I have almost no time to socialise with friends and family. I earn peanuts while my manager is having a great time. I am extremely overworked while many people on the same project are chilling.

I complained to my Team Lead but instead of helping me out he said, "Yeh to hota hi hai" I work very hard but I am being rewarded with more hardwork rather than appreciation and validation. I am not sure whether this is the right use of my time.

It feels like I have sold my soul to an evil corporation while I have nothing better to do apart from commuting, working, eating and sleeping.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel the same way?

What Rubbish. People are posting anything these days. Nobody dies because of working.

I’m in the same boat . Extremely long working hours , working on almost every weekend, bad proj management etc.

After the HIKE I understood that doing everything they say will lead me no where & I must fight for my self .

Here’s what I’m doing (I don’t suggest you to do the same though):

  1. Asked for release , they agreed after begging for months but at my last day in proj they canceled my release :(

  2. Started saying “No” more often . They recently wanted me to work on weekend and public holiday . I declined and didn’t even lift my managers call .

  3. I stopped working beyond working hours (I still sometimes do when necessary )

PS : I might have built a -ve impression on my manager after all this , but atleast I’m happy and getting time to prep for switch.

The coffin would be the cubicle and TCS would ask them to work from the afterlife.
But hey, at least they wouldn’t have to commute anymore.

Tcs wont care.

You have to learn to set boundaries. If it is too late to set boundaries. Take tasks. But dont deliver them right away. everytime they ask, talk a lot about what other tasks you are already doing,

If you say NO, they wont accept. Instead take some extra time to deliver.

You are the reason of your own problems if you want to be a slave no one can help you. But if you need some genuine advice i can say stop giving more than 9 hours this is what you are getting paid, if you are willing to work more and they are ready to pay extra it's your call. Secondly i don't know how much hike you got but many people i know every year they get hardly anything frankly saying between 1.5 to 5%. So you decide for your & your family future. This is not the only job it's true mostly everywhere you may need to extend hours but they are ready to pay for it. Better try skilling up and leave this shit before becoming a zombie.

No they won’t care. If you are about to die, they will say complete the tasks before dying. Plan accordingly

You are not alone bro, I being 12 yr experienced facing a similar situation at client place where I am overloaded with work and asked to work for 12 hrs 5 days a week from office.

And Delivery mgr says dont take unplanned leaves for next 2 months.

They are expecting me not to even fall sick.

A girl had met with an accident and was under going treatment, so she could not report to office and these evil people went and escalated to HR.

I felt helpless after asking for release many times to my dm, hr and supervisor. They have made false promises and did not do anything that they promised for a year. I have understood clearly that they don't bother about my hard work and future career growth. So I have set some boundaries and built a routine to prepare myself for the switch as a priority, worked less (sure it gained some negative attention on my work but I have made sure to take my time and complete the work instead of completing it super fast). Happy to say that I got good offer from a product based company and I'm now serving notice period and have 20 days till my lwd 😊
