Trending @Infosys; Do you think Infosys would care if someone died from overworking?

Lately I have been wondering about the work that I have been doing here. It is mindless and monotonous but I have to work extremely long hours.

I have almost no time to socialise with friends and family. I earn peanuts while my manager is having a great time. I am extremely overworked while many people on the same project are chilling.

I complained to my Team Lead but instead of helping me out he said, "Yeh to hota hi hai" I work very hard but I am being rewarded with more hardwork rather than appreciation and validation. I am not sure whether this is the right use of my time.

It feels like I have sold my soul to an evil corporation while I have nothing better to do apart from commuting, working, eating and sleeping.

Is it just me or does anyone else feel the same way?

Will not care.
When I complained the same to my TL & PM. They said I am a married man I am going through all this, you are still bachelor fresher, don't tell this silly things again and abruptly canceled the call.

Don't take this much stress. Slow down, take breaks. Working is fine, but your team lead or manager is respecting your time, then just log off after 9 hours 15 mins. Don't listen to them after that. If they have calls during odd hours, adjust your login time. Don't stretch your hours too much.

I am a team lead in Infosys from last two years. But the case you said only happens on demo days, or sprint planning days, and that also for 1-2 hours max.

You should start some physical activities too, it will strengthen your body and mind.

Peace.

And that's how the whole Infosys leads and manager tricks us, and says we have also done the same thing.

I am not pointing you, but I am a lead too, and I know how it feels when my teammates are having a hard time and our senior (some stupid manager or scrum master) is asking for the freaking progress.

Employees are there to work just don't put a lot of pressure on the one who is working exceptionally well.

When I was a TA at that time I had a heated argument with my manager regarding my salary hike and he uses the word " YOU ARE SINGING YOUR PROBLEM" is this a way to take to your juniors?

Infosys does charge a premium right Infosys welfare trust something in salary, isn't it something like insurance they pay to the dependents of employee. I've read it somewhere in policy for amount like 35L however I haven't seen it.

Anyways Infosys policies do care about employees but the Infosys management doesn't care about employees. Employee have to take care of their well being on their own, work only the daily working hour of 9.25 in which 45min lunch and 15 min tea break, overtime only if client requirement have to be recorded. They will try to get you to do OT everyday but hey just a mere per month 4-5K hike you don't wanna risk your health , do you ?

It's totally depends on how we handle work life balance. Always make sure before joining any project ask thier expectations and set your expectations. Do not overwork and stress . Nobody will suffer except your family if something happens to you ..this is business, company thinks about business..so do not over work. within 9:15 hours be productive and complete your work ...if it's taking extra hours do it tommorw its thier problem or they can hire extra resource ..

Even your manager and TL should have good collaboration and create friendly environment for the freshers so that they will be productive and happy to work.

As per policy, infosys is not forcing you to do overwork if you are doing, it is totally on your risk. If projects demands over work please tell them to pay you enough to counter over work or never accept work after completion of shift timings.
These all are never ending work but you should know how to manage otherwise policies are as such that they will prove, you died because of you only.

Set up clear expectations. On the working hours login time log out. With exception on couple of days. If you are what you are saying they won’t touch you. And don’t commit to work which you know can’t be finished in said time . Whatever be the pressure. Let people in project work the hardest as their efficiency is higher than the others. So they just keep getting loaded with more work. Setting your boundaries is important. And do it in assertive way rather than a complaining way.

I have felt the same when I cared about the work I did. When I stopped caring about the work, things were fine. The only thing that motivated me to survive the toxic work culture were my old parents, dreaming of me having children, seeing them happy. Nothing else. No one else cares for you. You are just a replaceable component. Once you burn out, your company can simply buy a much more efficient and cheaper one from the job market, and keep the system moving just fine.
