Use an expense tracker app. Whenever you make a spend, add it in the app. If you miss, add it the moment you remember. Every Saturday, check the last week's transactions in bank and note any missing items in the app.
if one is living in a city, almost all payments are done thru UPI/Card. so one can practically trace and categorize at least around 80/85% of the expenses incurred.
That's a very easy thing to know. I just look at the total money I saved in 2024, and subtract that from my annual salary. That gives my annual expense.
Less than 2.5 lakhs
I have been doing it since 2020. Most of my transactions are via online payments and every 2 week or so I add that data to a sheet. So I have got 4 years worth of data. It really helps planning the things.
