Do you feel like you can do more?

Have you ever got the feeling that you can do a lot more out of the current role you are in, and that so being inside your current org.

For instance, say you are a senior eng who definitely can have a linear growth in engineering, but that doesn’t feel like enough.

And if there was, say, a role (a more responsible and accountable one) which needs strong interpersonal skills too besides engineering, where you feel like you would really thrive.

If yes, has anyone of you have broken out of this by doing certain thing(s) and has been successful in it?

If yes do tell.

You always feel like this till you accomplish big stuff at work or have other responsibilities in life. Satisfaction is different from happiness. You can be happy in your role and still not satisfied. From personal experience, giving work more than 25% overall importance leads to overall dissatisfied life because you tie your worth to your work. Family, friends, hobbies, curiosity for life in general, and relaxation are equally needed. And when you balance it, you feel whatever you're doing at work is good enough.

That’s a very good point of view, which I agree with a 100% to the most parts.

However, on the other side, if you naturally are an ambitious person, wouldn’t you have the feeling of being able to do more but not getting a chance to?

And If I decide to give only about a 25% importance to work, how would I grow at a pace faster than just linear? Isn’t being not satisfied conducive to growth?
