Section 80C provides deductions on various investments up to ₹ 1.5 lakh per year from your taxable income. These investments can include ELSS (Tax Saving Mutual Funds), PPF, NPS, etc.
So in simple terms, if your salary is ₹ 10 lakhs and you invest ₹ 1.5 lakhs in above financial products, the tax will be deducted only on ₹ 8.5 lakhs.
