In IT,many people are just passing the years, they are thinking like their yoe is increasing so they will be more experienced and expect better package whenever they switch But they are forgetting to upskill themselves
Our daily project work is not enough to get higher package, you need to have exposure into the latest technologies, only then you have high chances of getting better package

Yeah most of the time it’s not enough, it holds true for if someone aims to be a generalist. But for some niche fields it’s actually better if they keep working on what they are working on.
But yeah, folks should upskill regardless. Create if you’re an engineer.
