Do startup CXOs find it OK to fully outsource HR?
Question to startup (or companies with less than 100 employees) leaders: Outsourcing not just recruiting or payroll, how about "HR as a Service" without having a full time HR in your company? Do you think it will save your money and time?
A part-time HR assigned to your org for all your people function - cool or bad?
PS: Trying to build on this idea.
A very bad idea. The firm who handled HR stuff was owned by the founder's friend and was probably doing it pro-bono at least.
Everytime I needed documents after I left, he had a "family emergency", some even in a space of 5 days.
I don't know about work about I just hope his family is alright.

Thank you for sharing your experience. Do you think it was because it was pro-bono? Or, are you theoretically against the HR as a Service idea? I'm trying to dig in to understand the root cause.
Pro-bono is but a very extreme case as it entails low prioritisation but at the same time I would certainly lean against outsourcing an external firm for end-to-end HR services, especially in the early stage.
I'm sure such a firm's expertise would help, no doubt and could help the client in focusing on product, growth, etc.
But a startup in its early phase also has to go through its own set of motions in how it handles all things HR, especially with low resources, including time.
Also another factor would hinge upon how lean of an operation it actual becomes, considering the fast pace at which things happen in early stage.
Although, this is just my perspective based on my experience, I would stand corrected if any secondary data says otherwise and would love to hear more thoughts on this.

I have been thinking of this idea myself.
I'm an HR Generalist for a 10 year old 120 employee company, young eCommerce stable setup

There shouldn’t be any HR. Period.
