Do shitty managers ever get reported?

It may seem like a basic question if you think about it, and the most logical answer would be "they should" and they "eventually would"- but how does that work for higher management? Would reporting a person who has an upper hand, is quite up the ladder and been in the org way longer ever work in your favour? While the whole company might probably know they're toxic, wouldn't they be sacked by then?

Have you ever done this & gotten the impact you wanted? Experiencing an immensely toxic boss for the first time and I have no clue how people go about this and stay in orgs for years.

As long as work expected out of a manager is getting done, higher ups won't bat on eye how he/she is.

So just move away from toxicity and save yourself

Yes, sometimes they do, but it does nothing, it will actually backfire. Unless you have some damning proof which may hurt company’s reputation, it won’t do anything. Toxicity is nothing, many times even in POSH case, managers get away unscathed. Reason being, that for most organisations, all that matters is their profit/earnings, and their reputation.
