Do not vote NOTA!

Hey everyone, Whatever politics you believe in, please do note the following before casting your vote -

  1. Do not vote NOTA. In India, no matter the % of NOTA voters, it's simply ignored. I saw a comment somewhere and I thought people are unaware of this, hence, wanted to let you guys know
  2. Please don't vote based on who becomes prime minister in this country. Please choose the candidate you believe is least corrupt(not corrupt is ideal), will work on your local issues, will raise relevant questions in parliament. If you see politicians just lining up their pockets(check their wealth growth from 2014 to 2024) or they have criminal cases against them, they most likely cannot help the constituency
  3. Do note, there's every chance of horse trading, and politicians would rather go to other parties than not be in power. We are quite helpless here

In our parliamentary system, an individual MP has very little autonomy and cannot vote against the party without disqualification. So, the party and Prime Ministerial candidate are definitely the most important factors to consider while voting.

How? How a particular constituency develops is on control by MP dude. Prime minister doesn't get into those affairs

@jake_peralta_B99 , an MP just has Rs 5cr of MPLAD funds in his control, that is Rs 20 for every person in his constituency every year, which is peanuts compared to the national budget or even the municipality budget per person.

Although the funds under an MP's control are limited, it might help if the MP is from the party in power since he/she will have more influence in getting central funds diverted to his/her constituency.

Agreed. Unfortunately, most people vote on party lines, or on PM lines. Voting should be done based on Candidate’s credibility. Only in case of all major parties’ candidates being equally good or bad, should party be considered.

Why equally bad to be considered though?

JumpyPretzel

Not equally bad per se, if two options both seem bad and there is a confusion in making a pick, then their party can be considered. But first, individual candidate should be checked. What happens though, is that people blindly vote for specific party, irrespective of the local candidate fighting the election. That way, many times even criminal and useless people get elected.

National level elections should never be voted NOTA but state level can be as state politics is often more corrupt with minimal influence on policies and our life as a civilian. National politics is about India, economy, defence, foreign policy and much more, so I agree NOTA should never be used in national politics voting.

Not really dude. You should never vote for NOTA. If you think everyone is corrupt, choose least corrupt. State govt has lot of powers. The entire state (all ministries of state) are run by state govt itself. You need them to implement law and order, policing, forestry, agriculture, state economics, water, sanitation, infrastructure etc etc.

Fair enough! Good points all over.

I am a NOTA voter usually - but I always see the pointlessness of it all
