Difficult to ask money from Parents

I want to buy a home in Pune and I don't have that much corpse to give down payment and little bit hesitant to ask from father . I know it's bit difficult because he is also retired and limited corpus he got because my grandfather was not richman he ( father ) did everything on his own but my wife and her parents think my father has lot of money and indirect pressure from my wife to buy house and my father in law is offering money indirectly that I dont want to take . I will be hurt if my father doesn't agree to give atleast down payment and I am afraid of rejection.my mother said ask atleast he is your father I know he will not give but atleast ask him

Suggestions pls

I can relate to your situation. It’s not always easy to ask, especially when parents have their own financial limitations. But I do believe it’s okay to have an open conversation with them. At the end of the day, they’ve done a lot for us, and whether they help or not, it’s important to respect their situation too. If it feels right, you should ask, but also be prepared for any response.

e.g: Dad, I’m thinking of buying a home, but I’m struggling with the down payment. What do you think I should do?
