Did I get scammed?

I connected with a founding designer from a startup incubated by a major Indian e-commerce company. After reviewing my profile, she explained the hiring process: I needed to share a visually-focused portfolio for the founders. Based on that, I’d either be called to the office or given an assignment. Since my portfolio was web-focused, she shared a simple assignment, which I completed and sent via WhatsApp. Later, she said it didn’t make the cut. When I asked for feedback, she ghosted.

Double check if she's actually a designer in that startup. Publish your work on your portfolio website and social media pages so they can't use it, they'll get accused of copying from you/your assignment if they do and rep will take a hit.

@Plannerinthehouse - one thing I've learnt is to do paid assignments.. ask them to pay a certain amount even though how small is it to honour the time and effort you will put into it. You'll know if they're genuine or not this way

You did not get scammed. This is how hiring happens at Startups. If you did not get feedback it doesn't mean you got scammed

It just means the person didn't have the time to give you feedback

Understandable but she kept everything over WhatsApp. That came as a red flag to me
