Devops engineer vs developer

Hi all, I joined tcs as a fresher. It's going to be about 3 years now.. earlier I was on bench now in some project...i am still not able to figure out which role I should be preparing for. Java developer or Devops engineer or choose a totally different path like data/ analyst which is so hyped now a days.

Can somebody help me to understand which role has better opportunities, better work life balance, moderately difficult (I am a girl so looking for a role which is not so much hectic to manage happily with other responsibilities)

I appreciate the responses. Thank you in advance.

I am DevOps engineer from past 4yrs and I started as fresher only. I can't comment about workload it's more dependent on your project and team.. if the manager is good all will be fine.

Better career prospects both technology have.. in Java you have to go with depth first approach while in devops it comprises of number of tools let's say 10+ in a stack + cloud knowledge + bit of coding too... It depends on more your liking if you wish to work close on development then Java for you and if you wish work on development lifecycle I mean the journey of code to artifact and certainly going live and managing load and availability.. then devops or sre for you
