Devastating!! Luck vs. Efforts | CAT Story
About A year ago, I left my 'prestigious and promising' career at a top organization to prepare for CAT 2024. It was in dec 2023. Took a year, prepared hard and gave it everything! From 42%ile in CAT 2023 to 95%-97℅iles in mocks had me filled with optimism and hope for the future. Little did I know that fate had something else in store for me!
Just 2 days before D-day I was sick and diagnosed with dengue. My platelets were low and had 103-104°F fever. I wrote my CAT chewing paracetamol tablets (took 4-5 a day).
Just like in Tenet: What's happened, happened. I think it wasn't in my destiny or something. After my response sheet I see my marks in 30s i.e 70%ile range.
After all this now! I think I should focus on getting a job and restart my career as a marketer anywhere. I am hardworking that I know for sure and I will make my life worthwhile anywhere!!
A year ago I posted something here and you all helped me a lot regarding my preparation and pepped me up!
I would beg you to let me know if there is any opportunity out there that would help me restart my career and give me a decent pay so that I could Reinitiate everything!!

There is xat, you can get into good colleges with that score. There is cmat (given that if you can score above 99.98%le), to get into jbims. You can try these also. All the best👍

Bro if u prepared well, then give NMAT XAT SNAP( if u filled) just one exam u losing hope? 90+ in mocks u still hold skills to crack exam. First dedicate your time to get exams cleared, u invested one year and losing fight with just one exam. NMAT, XAT CMAT SNAP MAHCET . Give all, it just require one lucky day and u land a premium B school, assuming your preparation is good as per mocks
My preparation is good and I am just truly depressed! I am preparing for NMAT, SNAP, XAT but I thought it would be better to join the job market as I would then be able to make a conscious decision whether I should join a B-School Or prepare for next year's CAT! NMAT and SNAP only have one Good College (less chances of selection).
XAT however opens doors but it is a highly unpredictable exam. That's why freaking out.

Bro, you can still take the XAT exam. It will be in the first week of Jan 2025 and land into a pretty decent college.
I’m in a similar boat. Quit work this year to prepare. I’d say use the knowledge and do well in GMAT, NMAT, SNAP, etc. Keep fighting bro
