This will just lead to employees clocking out on time on paper, but still continuing to work off hours... because you gotta finish the damn work! (confession: speaking from experience :/ ). It's all just virtue signalling to push the narrative that they care for their employees, unless Infy is taking steps to either reduce the workload to be manageable within 9 hours, or is fine with longer deadlines and (possibly) slower outcomes.

Can someone from Infy give any insight into how this is actually being handled on the ground?

That is just some damage control by Infy. However your appraisal is linked to expectation set for you by your managers. Time clocking is not everything.

This is just <9.15 on paper- in reality they would be working 10-14 hrs

This is a nice way of telling the employees that we are monitoring your working hours, so don't dare to shut your laptop before the proposed 9 hours shift.
Very simple manipulation tactic to enforce 9 hours of work time because last time saying it outright had some serious backlash.
