Date Engineering or Web Development?

I am a fresher nearing one year of experience. I was thinking of choosing a career path and preparing for a switch. I had my training in Web Development but I got a Data Engineer project (idk what the training was for then?).

I am OK with Data Engineer roles, so I just wanted to know the career prospects of Data Engineering compared to a SDE role with Web Development, especially in the future with the emergence of AI and all that.
