Data Privacy and Gokwik
I don't know how many of you know this company- Gokwik. They sit on the majority of checkouts on Indian D2C websites. I placed an order on Boat and gave them my number and address. And voila, it is present across all other D2C using the same checkout. And yesterday, I just browsed a company called Saada and someone from their team called me and emailed me. I never signed up for sharing my details, or at least didn't see any opt-out option. This is in the face of Data privacy and they have been funded for this Business model.

This applies to all D2C checkout options. One of their moats is the consolidation of customer data.
Allowing free movement of data across unrelated D2C sites is how they aim to enable seamless checkouts.

While I get the business logic, but now they are selling my data based on my browser information to a brand with whom I didn't start checkout. This is not ease of checkout but pure play data selling

Fair concern. That would be legal to do only if they have taken explicit consent from you on a T&C form when you first signed up.
Smells of desperation or ignorance, don't know which is worse.
