Data engineer trying to become a Backend developer

Hey grapeviners, I am working as a data engineer at Deloitte and I have less than one yoe. Prior to this I worked as a backend developer at a startup for a brief period and I really enjoyed it. Is it possible for me to to get into the backend developer role again? And to do that what should I focus on?
