Damaged asset (laptop)

I had put my asset on a desk and someone put their elbow over the laptop and it fell. Leaving a crack on side. The warranty of the asset is expired. Will i need to pay for damage or not.

If it's proven that it's not your fault, then no charges will be levied, you will be provided with a replacement laptop
