Hi everyone I am a 2nd year Btech student and I have interest in the field of cybersecurity but one thought that keeps bugging me is why is it a not much spoken about or common job field even today when so much digitalisation has occurred . As amount of data being handled by big techs keep increasing so should their safety measure to protect it which should lead to more investment into cybersecurity fields by them.

There are very few jobs for freshers in cybersecurity in india and those jobs also have very less pay. So it's not worth it to start cybersecurity as your first job.
The best way to enter into cybersecurity is to start with any software/IT job and transition slowly.
I have seen many professionals who started with any IT job and now are senior director of product and application security.
But that doesn't mean you shouldn't learn cybersecurity. Cybersecurity will help you to learn each and every domain like cloud, database, webdev, programming, linux and way more. These skills will come in handy later.
I completely disagree People get good jobs in cybersecurity and you can also earn good side incomes also through big bou ties and other freelancing like pentest so if you want to start in this field.
It is for people who have passion in this field.
