Curious. If someone asks you about the "salary range" offered for your position in your company, your reply would keep your salary in:

As rule, anyone other than family is asking for your earning details..... Crib. Always crib. Tell them you are in the lowest range. If it is a from a professional circle like a co worker or HR, if possible cry.

Never smile or even pretend to be happy.

I'd honestly give a range if it's someone who's applying for a role. Why keep them in the dark?

If it's relatives, they mostly tend to ask the exact salary(not the range), I decline to answer
