CTC check: quant role
i'm a '23 cse grad - offered 60LPA (fixed) + variable (up to 3x of base) as a quant researcher.
this offer is strictly "off-campus" (i come from a tier-3 college) and is a result of me switching careers.
am i high-balled? low-balled?
note: i used to make 30-40LPA as a freelance writer in college before this.

Sorry dude, u r BPL now

You have been proposed literally a poverty wage. I'm sorry to hear that bro. I think WITCH is hiring for the same role at a better bracket.

GrapeVine admin needs to put some filter on such repetitive “CTC Check” posts here. Every day some random 60 LPA earning guy comes and posts asking if the CTC is too low!! 🤷♂️

haha, i agree with that - and i'm well aware that i'm making more than the average WITCH guy.
my question is if this number is high or low for a quant role.
i do not have alumni/seniors to ask this (tier 3 college).

Ok, but posts like these are exactly like the LinkedIn cringe that this app is supposed to avoid and makes it’s selling point. If everybody earning 50 lakhs starts putting posts here daily, that will be same as the LinkedIn HR cringy posts, where HR attaches their beautiful photograph, along with a long content post on managerial/philosophical issue, inviting discussion on the soulful topic, and readers go wow wow, in the comments section. Anyway, to each his own. Hope GrapeVine folks really looks at this aspect.

Bro can you pls share your preparation journey?

the opportunity came through a referral from one of my content contracts.
i already had a decent cs + math background (RMO finalist), and was a hobbyist fundamentals and charts trader during COVID (took $3k to ~$75k).
only had one round of interview, brushed up on math and went on the call, got the offer 👍

you slithered and slipped your way through the cracks in society. well done

Loved the sarcasm across posts!
But, that aside. Kudos! Why the hell are you discussing salaries here with such an offer? Just do work and have fun

haha, i know it is high by normal desi standards, but going by quant, it doesn't match up to the TR/JS numbers I've heard of.
just wanted to check if i'm being low-balled due to lack of academic pedigree.

The offer you have gotten, is that US based offer paying top dollar for remote work? Or is that India based offer?

Dude freshers are easily getting 1CR package. Try to negotiate with HR or switch company ASAP

30-40 LPA? pls educate on how you did it? Would to know

started freelancing in my first year of college, never posted about my "services" - but had happy clients who would refer me.
word got around, and managed to land a few good remote US-based cos looking for recurring technical content (infra/deeptech).

An Technical content 👏

This seems like a classic case of HR taking advantage of your situation in the current economy. Would suggest you to keep your head down and get through this tough phase in your career and hopefully make a switch a couple of years down the line
