Crab mentality in Indian society, where individuals or groups pull others down to prevent their success, is starkly evident in the caste-based reservation system. With reservations already at 60% in some areas and proposals to breach the 50% constitutional ceiling, policies often target the general caste, which has excelled in education and employment, to enforce equality of outcome rather than opportunity. This mindset, akin to crabs dragging each other back into a bucket, risks catastrophic consequences if extended to the private sector. Reservations in private companies could undermine meritocracy, stifle innovation, and deter businesses that prioritize efficiency and talent. Multinational corporations, present in India for profit-driven motives, may reduce hiring or exit entirely if forced to comply with such policies, seeking more merit-friendly environments elsewhere. If the general caste were to hypothetically form a new nation built on a merit-based system, it could rapidly emerge as a major economic power, leveraging talent and ambition. Meanwhile, without the contributions of this group, India risks lagging behind even smaller economies like Sri Lanka, trapped in a cycle of mediocrity driven by divisive policies.
To be honest we are doomed already and forget about beating China or any other country. In some decades our survival will be difficult.
