CPA/CFA or similar stuff for an ERP Tech Consultant

Hi guys, I have posted this in a few other communities as well to get advice from experienced people of different sects.

I’m currently working as an ERP Tech Consultant for about 4 years in the financials domain; currently at EY.

I come from an engineering background. Although I have 0 knowledge about accounting/finance, I have gained some decent knowledge about the basic processes like O2C, P2P, R2R etc.

I'm confident in what I currently do on the technology side.

Lately I have become interested in accounting. I have started learning basic accounting through Coursera.

Would pursuing something like CPA/CFA be beneficial to my career? Possible career options? Finance Transformation and similar roles? Exit options?

Basically I want to make big money : ( and ready to sell my body and soul to corporate for it.

Unfortunately due to home loan EMIs, I can’t pursue a full time MBA. Online MBA seems to be useless(and frowned upon), based on my research and feedback.

So my only other option is doing something like CPA/CFA/CMA or something similar. Ignoring the toughness of these exams, will I be making the right decision in my career if I choose to get certified?

I want to be the middleman between finance and technology. Designing and improving the financial processes, automating stuff, etc.

I need some career counselling, wouldn’t mind paying for it.

Thank you!

Short answer No.

Finance is short end of stick and as it becomes more tech enabled, it's looses it's worth.

You are right, unless you are at intersection of Finance, Tech and Statistics etc.

Eg, RISK Managers with FRM or Actuarial Certification are in big demand.

Some other big money Finance is a closed door business, Eg Trading Commodities etc. You can't get hired easily.

Big money can be made in any field.
