I’m working as a Senior ML Engineer at a startup, and I think I owe my entire career to Coursera, specifically Andrew Ng courses. My undergrad was in EC, and it has nothing to do with my success.

This should answer your question.

Got it, thanks a lot for adding your experience here.

Learning - Yes

Demonstrating the skills to recruiter - Not so much. Coursera courses don't really add much weight.

What do you recommend for demonstration?

For my industry (non-tech, growth & marketing), I chose courses from Meta, Google and HubSpot.

Now, planning few from IIM-B and upGrad.

Courses in Coursera have a lot of variability, since they are all from different educational institutions. So it depends on the particular course and institution you're choosing.

Some Coursera courses, such as Andrew Ng's ML/AI courses, are highly regarded in the industry, including by hiring managers and recruiters. Other courses maybe not so much.

So your mileage will vary depending upon which particular courses you're doing on Coursera.

Coursera courses are great for learning through the audit option. Really useful to build up yoir business knowledge, but don't think paying for it can compensate for an actual degree. You can definitely apply the knowledge from there to do your job better or give better interviews

Courses are good but too much to pay for that degree. If you're going for learning then it's definitely good. Last time I checked they have stopped allowing audit course option which allowed freely view videos and learn without pay commitment
