Couple of queries from new lateral joiner

  1. Since I’ve recently joined TCS, just wanted to know, On which day of the month does the salary get credited?

  2. Also, I’ve been mapped to the project but not actively working in that due to ongoing client interview. Will I get any monthly variable pay as mentioned in the offer letter?

  3. What will happen if I don’t clear the client interview? What will be the consequence and impact on my payroll?

Thanks in advance for answering.

  1. Salary is generally credited in lwd of month or last Friday of month.
  2. Not sure. But even after being tagged to project my variable pay fluctuates. This I guess is basically done to increase their business units profit. But more or less it was > 90%.
  3. Nothing as such. Dont worry you will get a project. You should worry about getting a project alined to your requirements like tech stack and client location or tcs office, timings etc

Regarding point 2. I beleive there is no monthly variable pay component. Its quarterly variable pay. If you have joined mid of the quarter you wont get anything in that quarter. Thereafter you will get it based on unit performance. Generally upto C2 level its 100%. C3A and above based on unit performance. Note this year they are also looking WFO index for variable payout. Hope this helps.

@KindThrust2 Thanks for your inputs, but as a correction it’s actually monthly performance pay and not monthly variable pay.
Appreciate your details on the quarterly variable pay and I would assume I won’t get any QVP this quarter. But as I said, I haven’t been assigned any task in my project yet and I still am a non-billable resource. So, just wondering how am I gonna fulfil the WFO index this month for variable payout.

Can you please help me with how WFO index is calculated for variable payout?

My friend, with Java Spring Boot knowledge, interviewed for relevant projects but got a JavaScript one. Meanwhile, I, with Python Django Flask expertise, was searching for the same but got a full-stack Java Spring Boot project without an interview.
