Corruption in India

Given recent WinTrack Inc allegations, I feel very hard not to believe them because of the perception that govt officials have created, atleast for me.

When they say that Chennai Custom Officials asks for bribe, me and my colleagues almost all agreed in unison and said, "Yahi hota hai".

Given all my interactions with govt officials, they deliberately try to shrug off responsibility and will only do their work on time, if you bribe them. If you don't give money, they will be like "Next week aana" and "Go to this/that dept".

Even the govt knows who's corrupted, but they decide to stay mum. Probably because they also get a cut of the bribes, else they fear of losing the votes from govt employees.

PS - I cannot recall giving bribe in any private firm.

Should most firms be made private then? There're many countries where private ownership is a lot more than in India.

Yes, I had some hope from this current govt, but they are from the same gutter as other corrupt politicians. . I seriously don't know whom to vote for next time. I can't switch to other political parties because they're even worse.

Maybe we misunderstood when he said, 'Naley se gas banaunga' . He probably meant, 'Corrupt officials se paisa banaunga'

You may have heard news on Rippling founder Prassanna that how Chennai police had demanded 25L₹ from him to not file FIR against him on reports from her wife.

Officials are opportunistic. They will first create, magnify and show the problem to you, and they themselves will sell you the solution for money. Have seen all of this!!

This is a norm now. Taking bribe is birthright of entire govt machinery. Even judiciary is not immune. Traffic police takes bribe on broad day light.

That Supreme Court judge is still breathing in open air. Had it been us, we would be rotting in jail by now. . Even politicians themselves are now opposing this new bill which sacks political figures if they're found convicted and jailed for 30 days or more. What can we expect from such idiots? . I don't understand how this clown 'Arvind Kejriwal' party 'AAP' is still allowed to run..

Firstly, there's plenty of corruption in private companies as well, but not as much. You can still do many things without bribes.

Secondly, many big MNCs also pay bribes to govt officials as well as private employees of other companies for various reasons. Sometimes it's to get orders, other times it's for legal stuff. Most people don't get to know of it because it happens at much higher pay scale levels.

Tl;dr - private companies aren't really better in terms of corruption

Appreciate your comment, but it is ultimately the govt employees taking bribes correct.. . What rather can an MNC do here (like a normal citizen), to get their work done?
