Consult Interview prep
Hi everyone, Does anyone here work in impact consulting or social consulting or consulting in general?
I’ve an interview lined up at dalberg in 3 weeks needed some preparation tips
It would be of great help if anyone could assist me on it.
Thanks!

The base principles of consulting interviews should hold irrespective of which consulting firm you interview at - they are most likely to ask you to guesstimate something or do a full case interview with you
There are tons of resources on how to prep for these interviews - my bible has been case interviews cracked, they've done a pretty good job of explaining how to think about a problem and how you can think of different nuances while solving one
The main thing a consulting firm will test you for is whether you are structured and how you think about a problem. For Dalberg, only the nature of problem would change (I.e., more impact focused) but they are ultimately testing you for the same things

Thank you!

Happy to share some tips:
- About case interview: Practice case interviews, which will make up the bulk of your interview (30-40 mins). Dalberg cases will most likely have cases from the social impact sector (climate, gender, health etc.), with the client being a govt ministry/NGO/philanthropy. There will 100% be a quantitative element to the case (e.g., market sizing, pricing, or some other guesstimate).
- Resources for case interviews: I found The Case Compendium very helpful, it has some Dalberg specific cases too. Look at Bridgespan cases, Dalberg website cases, other standard casebooks like IIMA, other MBB website cases
- Be answer first in your responses
- Go through the Dalberg website to get an idea of the type of projects
- Look up the name of the interviewer if you know in advance - you are likely to get your case in the sector the interviewer specialises in
- Prepare some interesting questions to ask the interviewer
Good luck!

Thank you!
