Considering IT instability worth switching into government jobs?

In my case 23M general

i work at big PBC MNC & make 1.3lpa PM net

I am skilled enough to survive in IT & also got in sde because of passion/early exposure to computers from early years I am okay with continuous grind

what I am not okay is, with stress. i care a lot about my health and don't want any stress, physical ailments that come with it

Lot of pressure from parents & family to crack government job, get lifetime stability. tired of denying them everytime. it's taking a toll on me

IT hotspot like bluru & hyd degrading day by day. really care about quality of life

The reason i choose to not move is because i dream to settle in foreign for quality of life. i don't see that happening with gov job, IT enables me to emigrate

what would be the better option. i don't seek any black money, honest person.

switch to gov for stability
Stay in IT, emigrate to other country

Not for me to be honest. Govt jobs has itself cons too.. Monotonous it is , a lot of people work it will be, restrictions and hierarchy could be a big pain point for me. Based on my personal experience, I have seen a lack of willingness to work in a govt employees ( studied in a gov college, examples of my professors).

And then salary also is not that great, transfers and stuff. A lot of ego people , corruption happens too when it comes to transfers and promo.

Super competive to step into it.

Not at the age to start a govt job from scratch. In most cases will be a super downgrade.

These are my thoughts for self, hope you can relate with some of them and that it helps you take the right call.

Not denying that it is difficult to crack, at the same time even if I have the option to….it’s not for me is what I meant 😅.

The best advice, start in a metro city near you local.

Bro, If you're selected in a decent paying gvt job ( above 1L > ), then just go for it.
People do see on the good things in IT, nice salary and WFH. They ignore the cons.

WLB - For sure far better in Government Jobs except if you're in powerful positions like Police, SDM etc. Work pressure in Banks is same or lesser than IT.
In IT, I find the worst WLB. With increasing exp, 110% you will have to stretch to 12h/day and also login Saturdays and Sundays.
And for leaves, if you ask your manager for 2weeks leave, he will react like if you're asking his salary.
I mean what's the point if you're earning good money but you don't have time to spend it.

Job Security - Government job, IYKYK. For IT, just imagine if you're in 30-40s having loads of responsibility then being laid off. Also, one can get another job, but what If its taking months. It would be a trauma for you.
Also, we dont know what will be future of IT, after AI. Its not been a lot of time since the release of AI, but already eaten many jobs. You can see it how its evolving, it can literally generate a video which is hard to distinguish, just imagine in upcoming 10years, what would be its capablities. For sure, it will reduce manpower not saying completely replace us. Also, you might have heard that IT jobs in 40s are very risky. Wish no one faces such situation, but just see the openings of jobs, if there are 100 jobs for 1-10 exp, then hardly 10 jobs with 20y exp.

Salary - Here IT wins for sure if you're that "hard working and talented". For sure IT is very very rewarding. But people who haven't work in this field or new to this field, they have a dillusion that if you step into IT, money will start to rain just because there Uncle/Friend/Bro is earning 40LPA- 50LPA in 10y of exp. First, not all are earing 40-50LPA in 10y of exp. Just imagine every IT professional being payed 40LPA in 10y of exp. Is it possible ? Only 2-3% of india earn that much, so is it possible that every person be earning 40lpa😂 ? People earning that much money are the real talented one's and they've reached that position after competing with Lakhs of people. Not everyone is earning that much. Its a dillusion that if you step into IT and just switch you're getting 40-50LPA. Its possible but not that easy, how people see it. (My POV, not commenting on someone's capablities) In Gvt, if you're into a good PSU, its the best. I think salary is very decent to live a good life. And people starting E3 scale PSUs can easilty reach approx 40LPA in 10y including a Pay revision which happens every 10y.

Ever seen any gvt officer poor ? Never happens.

And ignore gawars, saying gvt jobs == black money. Not every posts offer black money, jobs which have authority and powers have this but every job.

Bro both sides have pros and cons there are high paying psu jobs also you can go for them if you are from btech cse then its cherry on top bcz your postings will be in regional headquarters or head office only no field work only desk job is there .
Top 5-6 maharatna psu offer ctc of around 20 lpa in starting with in hand of 1.25lpa.
I am in a psu but from ee background so face field job and location issue. Rest WLB and work culture is good in my psu

Rest there are different govt jobs also which i usually avoid and that perspective depends on person to person also.
Do look into the pros and cons of both sectors before taking the decision. But cracking any govt job from general will be tough i have faced that by myself.

Choose a government job if it's a Group A/ Group B category position, otherwise IT field is way better.

I wish there were more option like Stay in IT (India). But if you have to choose among 2, choose 2.

Do you really think that getting a govt job in a population like India is like buying candy?

On top of it if you are in general category, I bet you can crack FAANG with much less intelligence and hardwork.

Secondly govt salaries are much lesser, unless you can really get a job which can get you cherry on top.
