I agree with congestion tax. Cars are a stupid transport medium and do more public harm than good. Coties should have Congestion tax, better way to monetize than Road tax/GST on vehicles.
Even after that, people will still buy cars, because of unavailability of proper public transport network and high prices by cabs and autos as well their unwillingness to go to places. It will be more to do with convenience rather than the tax. People are willing to pay high road taxes.
From a govt perspective, it’s a good way to generate extra revenue as they know the pain points of commuters, but aren’t flexible enough to solve their problems.
