Confused with career option

I'm working in Utilities domain for the past 5 years now and I am pretty good at it by knowing two of the best enterprise software that are widely used and got good experience with custom development being in the solution design team. But my technical skills are fading away. I am working more towards client facing role like getting requirements , designing solution and giving UAT and other things. This too is a crucial thing because now I directly work with my associate director and Managing director but I think this is a very niche division where growth is not that good. I have been thinking to switch to data engineering role but I am somewhat worried will I be able to do it or not. I started of as a tester and have taken multiple role but data engineer seems a challenging path. I feel I can do it but I want to know is it good from career perspective or not. The main reason for this switch is that my salary is just at 11.5 LPA. I feel a switch will help me get better pay plus secure my career. Also my current work is pretty hectic. Travelling 2 weeks to client location, 18 hours of work. I know I may have confused you as well so to keep it short.
