Confused b/w-Comfort or Growth
Need some genuine career advice. I have been in the same organization for almost 8 years, starting from my fresher days. I am very comfortable here, my team is good, work-life balance is great, and there are no shift pressures. Because of this comfort, I stayed here for so long. But the problem is that I feel underpaid for my experience. My current salary is less than 10 LPA, which feels low compared to the market for 8 years of experience. So I started exploring opportunities and recently got an offer with around 80% hike. I have already resigned. Now I’m feeling very confused. Since I’m very comfortable in my current organization, I keep thinking: What if the new company has high work pressure? What if work-life balance is not good? What if I regret leaving this comfort? At the same time, I also feel like staying in the same comfort zone may affect my career growth. My current company is now trying to retain me with around 30–40% hike, which again made me think twice. Being a woman, work-life balance and family time are very important to me, and that’s one of the reasons I stayed here for so many years. So now my mind is full of questions: Should I choose comfort or growth at this stage? Is it normal to feel this much tension before switching, especially after 8 years in the same company? Do people eventually get used to a new company after some time? Or is staying in a comfortable job sometimes the better decision? Would really appreciate hearing your experiences or suggestions.

Try to get out of your comfort, you will explore many things as well as good salary
Stop comparing yourself to others. If you're happy in your comfort zone, stay there peace of mind is rare. Remember, we work to live (food, clothes, shelter), not just to grind ourselves to death for money.

- What are your priorities - money, WLB, kids, etc.?
- What motivated you to start looking in the first place?
- Does the extra money require you to put in more effort in terms of travel, office time, mandatory attendance, shifting, etc?
- Will extra money help you solve other problems or meet some personal goals faster like loans?
- Is the new job requirement project or client specific or is it for internal company itself?
Yes the extra money is needed for loan fulfilment which made me to look for next opportunities and it costs me to switch from hybrid to complete work from office and shifts !
Don't switch , get that 40% hike. Maybe negotiate for 50-60%.
If you already have family and want to optimize for that , do it . Don't switch. When you switch give your criteria of WLB , dont go just for money , ask future team mates about WLB and culture them only switch.
Do what your gut says not people say. Most ppl would say to switch for hike in general, but without knowing your situation. Everyone is against stagnation to have a comfortable life one day. If you're already in comfort, then... What's the point
Cognizant is shit, don’t stay back! Being a human you’re like sand, whichever structure you’re put in will take that form. That’s called Agile in this world. Note: I was in same situation in Chennaiyan Tamil Solutions, for same no. of years - now chill work environment in new firm with 200% hike joined, and received 12 other offers which helped me to get better offer
If ur woman then go with comfort to manage home, kids, family people happily or else u will earn more money with more office tensions every day
