Confused about electronics choice

I have a very old i3 laptop. I am using it with Ubuntu. I am now confused whether I should replace the laptop with a new one for my personal use or simply buy an iPad and a third party keyboard for the iPad.

I don’t use my laptop for any programming. Just occasional browsing. Is iPad really a good alternative for laptop folks and is it worth the price tag of ₹50k or more
