How many years do we need to wait in infy to get promoted from Consultant to senior consultant. Can we check with manager asking to initiate promotion?

Depends on manager, Try checking in with manager. Most of the time if we ping/ mail manager he/she won't respond😂 This is the culture of infy passed down from top to bottom😊

Also note consultant to senior consultant is just progression (5B to 5A) and no hike . If your plan is to become manger you cannot skip level in between, so better ask manager and see. Later you can apply for IJP for promotion from 5A to 6B🙃
