Compulsory service charge restaurants

Anant Ladha in this video says, even if service charge is mentioned it can be asked to remove. But so many, so many fine dine 'elite' restaurant say it is mandatory, because they have written it outside, on the menu, everywhere

Is it legal? Can they force us to pay service charge? And then GST on service charge?

Wayout is simple. You don't like a restaurant charging service charge, don't come to the restaurant.

But that illegal. Just by avoiding it we are letting them flourish.

It's like avoiding crowded places for pickpockets instead of stepping up the security
