Companies taking mobile phones away

How do you perceive companies taking away mobile phones during office time? Some of my friends work in companies (specially consulting) which take away their mobile phone during work hours. For me this is a sign of an organization which does not trust their employees.

These companies do so to prevent insider information leaking. Most of them operate in market regulated conditions. Nothing wrong in providing lockers. If you don't want to work in this industry, by all means work in a different one

Yes it's okay for regulation but they take their phones because they don't want them to use the phone during the office hours due to efficiency

@constA No company takes mobile phones away. Employees will be provided lockers in which they'll be putting their mobiles before entering their workspaces. @DonnyDarko @Rorschach

Same for DRDO, BEL etc, depends on the industry, regulations and IP concerns. Nothing wrong with it, but I usually kept it in car / bike as BEL had no lockers lol. Some higher ups can use phones inside that's all.

It's understandable for DRDO and BEL. But I am talking about companies making pet projects for foreign clients.

Legitimate privacy concerns in a lot of cases imo
