Trending @Wipro; Colleague Borrowing Money from Multiple People – How to Escalate?

Hi everyone, I want to bring something serious to attention. A colleague from our project has borrowed money from multiple team members (including myself) and has not returned it even after 5–6 months. Initially, I thought it was just me, but later I found out that he has taken money from at least 5 people, totaling nearly 2 lakhs.

Every time repayment is asked, he gives excuses. This is becoming a serious concern for our team, both financially and professionally.

I would like to know:

Has anyone else faced a similar situation?

What is the right way to escalate this matter? Should we involve HR formally?

This behavior is affecting trust within the team, and I feel we should collectively address it.

Yes, involve HR. Some people take advantage of our niceness

It is personal matter. It's just verbal agreement among you and your friend. So wipro cannot do anything.

But you can do one thing. Inform his/her manager(only verbal communication) if manager is good with you. This is just a trial if the manager can help you

You cannot do anything officially. So, don't communication through emails

Its a personal matter .... I don't think HR will get involved in this matter

You can reach out to HR, but I don't think there is any policy against this.
