Internship season came around, and everyone seemed to be getting offers left and right. I along with my rommie was the only one who didn't.
Honestly, it hit me hard. I'm good with tech, but when it comes to talking to people, making an impression-I just freeze. I didn't even bother to apply for many positions because I knew I wouldn't stand out in interviews.
I spent days thinking about how I could break into this whole internship thing. Then, I found this HR database through a friend (DATAXED it is btw you can find on google, www.dataxed.com).I wasn't sure at first, but it had contacts, emails of recruiters, hiring managers, and LinkedIn profile blah blah . Not the usual route through job portals. This was direct, and it felt like I had a shortcut that everyone else didn't have.
I started reaching out. At first, I felt a little weird doing it, like I was skipping steps. But it actually worked. I got replies- One guy from amazon did replied on amazon that he would refer me for the same and it was a win win cz I was just shooting all those emails from that database which I got from the website. I landed a couple of interviews, and one turned into an internship offer.surprisingly it was only after putting those 100s of email in Cc And i was just shooting given that I was categorising. It wasn't magic, it wasn't perfect, but it was a way in.
I guess the point is, sometimes it's not about waiting for the perfect moment or the perfect pitch. It's about finding another way when you feel like you're stuck. If you're like me, just good at what you do' + struggle with the rest, maybe this approach could help.
