No one can compete with China on costs, mainly due to their transport / logistics infrastructure. If a company like Foxconn wants to make a phone, they are going to source many subcomponents from other vendors like Screen , camera modules. Transportation costs of all of such purchases in the supply chain will add to the final expenditures and contribute to the final margins of a company. Say you're making a laptop that is selling for 1000$ (or ~80k) costs 800$ to make in China compared to 900$ in India. Where do you manufacture them?

In order to bring down the costs of logistics, we need to invest a lot more in infrastructure like DFC, etc.

Interesting point...Infra, we are so behind in infra Though DFC can ease movement of goods we need more businesses to produce in India otherwise these DFC's will only serve the purpose of moving imported goods across the country.

90% of the electronic goods sold in Amazon and Flipkart are imported from China. House hold items, all kinds of high grade plastics, toys, equipments are all imported from China.

We don’t have the machinery and the skilled labour to produce in India. For some sectors, India is heavily reliant on China.

Interesting...Can't we import machinery and start making something in India, later we can focus building those machinery Shouldn't we start somewhere What could be the barriers that can hinder this🤔

That's because no matter what the bhakts say we and the world are still reliant on Chinese manufacturing

Carbon emission industry was pushed to China by West in 1970-90s and now u want to bring it back.

Hope u got the point.

But Is there any society or civilisation that got ahead without carbon emissions The entire west is built on the Industrial base I agree there is one sector/theme(Technology)that west came up with which does less carbon emissions compared to others but still world runs consumption of natural resources though many doesn't agree on that

We have shitty laws and red tape in every industry.Industrial power is more expensive in many places , logistics costs are exorbitant, land regulations and construction permits are bad.

One of these in isolation would be a challenge on its own , but our country has all the Infinity stones together and ready to snap .

One big problem is logistics and it's effect on higher unit economics. Our freight trains run at 25kmph (seriously).

Watch the think school coverage on Indian and Chinese logistics.

Bharat mala project delayed, might actually stagnate things further.
