CFA? To do or not to do?

Hey guys!

I’m currently preparing for cfa level 1 and i think i might have made the wrong choice.

Anyway, im almost done w the portion now and plan on giving the paper sincerely but i dont know if i want to continue with it. Im working at a bank in operations and honestly ive started finding cfa dry and I can’t seem to enjoy it like others do.

I eventually want to break into a research based role and I know I could do really well in the field.

Is cfa really a requirement to get into research? Or I can go for an mba later and that should work as well?

Looking for guidance who are already into research?

CFA is the exam for researchers (Equity/Debt etc) . If you want to be a researcher in investment industry, you shud pursue CFA with all motivation you can gather, not just to pass it but to truly learn.

MBA is a facade of a placement factory where a bhelpuri of subjects (which shud be learnt over 4-8y of career) are crammed into 18 months of curriculum.

If your company pays for it then probably do it.

MBA is nowhere related to research

True, but qualification wise because most firms hire someone who has done mba in finance from a good B school
