have mixed feeling about this opinion. I feel "follow the money, and you get better skills" is my philosophy. The whole thing assumes that technical knowledge will lead to more money in the future. IN the wets, yes, they have better R&D and scientific process in place. We lack that. After 10 years of exp, if a person is not in a team leading role, his/her technical competency is useless. The first question any HR will ask is, why have you not been promoted?
The obsession towards "growth" in career is a single measure to show what is wrong inour corporate world. Growth in our part of the world is promotion. Beyond a certain point, technical skills are not developed /used. Its always people management. Most careers die, not because of the lack of technical skills but more due to absence of experience in "people management" roles.
These posts might attract views in LinkedIn. But not applicable in real life. At least not in India.

PS: every step in life a man is measured by the money. People dont chase money for no reason.

I don't agree with this obsession but I can't deny it completely. Parents want financial stability for their kids.
