Career Switch or Marriage First?

Would you recommend switching to KPMG Global for a better pay, even if workload is currently manageable at Deloitte India (Finance Transformation)?

I am actively searching for marriage prospects, but I’m uncertain about my future spouse’s job location.

Current Role: Deloitte India - Mumbai - SC role Offer: KPMG Global - Pune - AM role + 35% Hike

Wait & switch only after marriage
Take KPMG offer regardless

More salary means more money and man money opens so many invisible doors in the value/virtue market of matrimony that you'll be surprised and confused to never be able to make sense of it. Go for the higher pay.

You are still searching but haven't finalized that means marriage is at least 1 year away.

By that time you can join KGS and get comfortable.

If things don't go right (re-location headache comes) after marriage, atleast you would have completed one year in KGS. Switch after that as the worst possible option.

You will get even better hike after one year. And no HR will judge you also for leaving within 1-1.5 year if you say relocation due to marriage is the only reason you are switching from KGS. Everyone understands that no spouse would like to live in a different city just after marriage.

Thank you very much! Just to add, my joining date at KPMG would be in 1st week of January basis 3 months notice period. While my marriage isn’t finalized yet, but the marriage discussions are ongoing with the shortlisted prospects, and I’m planning to get married in Dec’25 or Jan26. This timing makes the decision more complex😅

Strike the iron while is hot!

New job opportunity with hike is right infront of you, while for marriage, no opportunity in sight right now (as you're still searching).

More salary >> You might marry after a year by that time you would get comfortable with the new job as well. Waiting in same org and then thinking you picked a bad option is not good

Thanks a lot for your suggestion. But I’m hoping to get married in December or January and hence the overlap in timings makes it tricky😅

Go to KPMG. Finding the right person isn’t like finding a job, it takes a lot more time and patience.
