Career switch in probation

One of my team mate joined last month . After that she got better offer in another company. She said probation period is 6 months so she can switch without serving notice period. Is it true? I had an idea that once we join the organisation we should serve 3 months notice period ? Which is true?

3 months is non negotiable, if you reveal your offer details, they will take advantage of it, especially hr and management. Try other options if there are any!!
