Career suggestions

Intro: 2 YOE with 2 startups and 1.3 years with the last one.

TC: 14LPA Role: Frontend Engineer

I was promised a good appraisal this month but I think that is not going to happen.

I can see two roads from here.

  1. Start giving interviews and get a job in next 2-3 months with 20+ ctc.
  2. Start learning backend, take some initiatives and do some backend tasks in current org. After getting getting good hands on, swith after 8-9 months.

My heart says go for the first one as i want to move quickly but brain says wait as i,ll grab a much better offer and it won't hurt my cv too.

I'm confused. Suggest your views and what could be the possible repercussions of 1st one and of what scale.

Start interviewing and switch asap
Wait, because it'll hurt your CV
Wait, learn Backend and switch for a better package

According to the post you already have switched 3 times in 3 years averaging your work at a place for 1 year. If you keep job hopping, you won’t get sufficient experience anywhere. You need to stick somewhere for a sometime and then think about a switch after you have gained a considerable amount of experience

What's a considerable amount of experience for you?

2-2.5 years would be good enough experience

Nope. Don't switch. 3 switches in 3 years will definitely be a red flag for recruiters unless you can justify with anything other than compensation.

Just to clarify, it's just one switch i have made previously and the second one is what I am planning but got your point.

When you have good skills and you aren't happy and you know why you are quitting, you can quit sooner. Some companies might hold it against you, but a lot will give you benefit of the doubt for your hopping nature. As long as you can explain it out, it should be fine.

If you feel your skills deserve more pay, then strive to get that
