Career suggestion

I worked in Tes for 3 years as a Java Developer with a salary of 3.5 LPA(4 LPA by the end of 3 years), I got an on site opportunity in UAE in a product based company because of which I happened to resign. The salary hike was good ~400% but it is a Java production support role, where I don't get to code much (almost 0). Please suggest the following:

1. How this field is?
2. Is it a decision taken from your perspective?
3. Should I keep upskilling and switch to development role again?
4. What are the pros and cons?
